The Director is a critical member of the Student Development team and provides strategic direction, leadership, and vision for student co- and extra-curricular involvement and for the Center for Student Engagement, Inclusion and Belonging (CSEIB). The work of the CSEIB augments the academic program of the College and enacts the College Mission through providing engagement opportunities for students. The Director works closely with professional staff, campus partners, and student leaders to create a vibrant and welcoming student experience. The Director organizes the new student orientation program, oversees all student-focused campus events, and provides direction for student organizations. Essential Functions The following list of duties is meant to be representative of the work performed in this position. Develop and execute a vision for a vibrant and engaging co- and extra-curricular student experience Supervise the efforts of professional and student staff to ensure successful campus involvement opportunities including campus traditions, large campus events, student organization activities, greek-lettered organization activities, cultural events, and co-curricular educational programming With colleagues, ensure that evening and weekend campus events are fun, responsive to students’ varying interests, and help to keep students on campus Provide primary management of the greek-lettered organizations (GLOs) on campus and serve as liaison with GLO trustee groups (seven literary societies and APO service organization) Provide leadership and vision for the student life components of a comprehensive first-year experience program Coordinate transitional experiences for first-year and transfer students; assume primary responsibility for planning and implementing new student orientation, transfer orientation, and Welcome Week activities Recruit, hire, and train IC Involvement Leaders who are part of the first-year experience program and all campus events Develop and implement student organization policies, addressing, as necessary, any student organization conduct violations, providing restorative and educational responses Conduct assessment and data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of student programming Oversee communication with students about opportunities utilizing a variety of tools and platforms Develop and manage department budgets Serve on campus committees and work groups as needed Perform other duties and additional responsibilities as assigned
